| A candid
camera was a small, easily concealed camera with which
spontaneous, unposed pictures could be taken.
The introduction
of the Leica miniature,
35 millimeter camera in 1925
revolutionized photography, freeing it from the tripod.
The term "candid camera" came into use shortly thereafter, about 1928.
The German master photographer, Erich
Salomon, (1886-1944) perfected the art of the candid camera,
taking hundreds of secret pictures.
