| The "camera
doesn't lie" is a popular adage which is no longer true.
It came into our language before 1850 when people realized how
accurately detailed daguerreotypes were in faithfully recording reality, a great difference
from drawing and painting.
Of course, by 1857 photographs were
being doctored and altered so that they did "lie."
Nowadays,
a photograph, especially an electronic "photograph" can show
anything the photographer wants it to show.
