Brewster, David (Sir)(1781-1868) was an inventive Scottish physician who experimented with light. In 1816 he invented the kaleidoscope which has been popular with children ever since. He studied polarized light and after the advent of photography, he was fascinated with stereo photos. In 1851 he demonstrated the first practical viewer for stereo photographs at the London Great Exhibition in the famed Crystal Palace. Estimated basic value: No Estimate
