Beaton, Cecil (1904-1980) was a well-known foppish British fashion photographer remembered primarily for his portraits of celebrities and his pictures in the English versions of Vogue and Vanity Fair magazines. He started with photography with his sisters (he was that kind of fellow) in 1915. During World War Two (1939-1945) he took war photos in London and North Africa. His use of bizarre backgrounds and unusual props gave his pictures a unique quality. Estimated basic value: $1300
