autochrome was an important, but under-appreciated color photographic film system devised by the French brothers August and Louis Lumiere who had earlier invented movies. The process was introduced in 1907, 28 years before Kodak introduced Kodachrome. Like Kodachrome, autochrome produced color transparencies. In America they were generally 4 by 6 inches or 5 by 7 inches. They have been greatly undervalued and under-appreciated by collectors. Estimated basic value: $490
