Agfa AG is the present incarnation of the old German manufacturer, Agfa after it merged with the Belgian firm Gevaert. Agfa (short for Aktiengesellschaft fur Anilinfabrikation) was originally a dye maker in 1867. It began making film in 1908 and soon became Europe's leading maker.
