Adams, Ansel (1902-1984) was a famous, if, perhaps overrated American photographer of landscape and natural objects. He started taking photographs in 1930 exploiting the full tonal range of black and white film. He published his first book, Making a Photograph, five years later. In 1940 he had a successful show at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City. The following year he worked for the Department of the Interior. He's best known for his pictures of the Sierra Nevada, Yosemite, and landscapes. Estimated basic value: over $2500
